The NEW Mission Statement of Greenbrier Middle School:
It is the mission of Greenbrier Middle School to empower students to be successful, productive leaders in society. We are devoted to an engaging and rigorous curriculum, to a safe and student-centered environment, and to innovative teaching and learning that is built on stakeholder collaboration to educate the whole child.
GMS and District Vision: "Whatever It Takes"
We are excited to announce several new initiatives to engage the sectors of our community in our educational program and the teaching and learning taking place at Greenbrier Middle School! One initiative is our PAWS Smile Starter program, and we are proud to invite various community leaders to serve as door greeters for our students and participate in learning walks throughout our classrooms. First Church of the Nazarene, Arch Ford Service Cooperative, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office, and Greenbrier Police Department have all partnered with us recently as Smile Starters for the good of our students!
Parent Teacher Organization
Our wonderful PTO wrapped up an awesome first semester with teacher luncheons, student pizza parties, Fall Festival, recognizing teachers at Christmas with a surprise Sonic treat, and much more! Fall Festival monies will be dispersed to the schools soon. Remember to collect your Box Tops for Education! A competition will begin soon! Be sure to read the Winter newsletter that was sent home and emailed in December. Updated info, volunteer opportunities, and past PTO Meeting Minutes can be found at the GMS PTO Website.
Tier II Words of the Month
GMS staff and students will focus on a few tier II words of the month throughout the school year. These are words that students need to know and be able to use in order to comprehend curriculum across many content areas. October words of the month are justify and compare. We challenge you to model using these words at home and acknowledge when your child uses them in their speaking or writing. We appreciate your involvement and support!
