As many of you know, Greenbrier Public Schools received the Grade Level Reading Grant through the Arkansas Communities Foundation, which provided all of our kindergarten - 2nd grade students with their very own whisper phone and color ABC chart to take home and practice their reading skills this summer!  Our project is called “Whispers from School to Home.”

To continue support for our parents and students in knowing how to maintain literacy skills through the summer months, we will be sharing practical tips regularly between now and August!

Tip #1 - For whatever occasion you are packing a bag, whether for a visit to grandparents’ house or even a quick doctor’s appointment, remember to pack a book!  You can easily replace a short amount of “screen time” with worthwhile “read time” by doing so.

Tip #2 - Join Mrs. Ashley Hammett and Mrs. Megan Girdler at the Greenbrier Library next Wednesday, June 13th, at 10:30 for story time, and bring your whisper phones with you! These ladies will lead story time, help students select books, and share even more summer reading ideas with the whisper phones. If you can’t make it next Wednesday, keep an eye on our social media pages for their videos to be posted!
