This summer, a vertical team from the Greenbrier School District participated in Math Design Collaborative, which brings high-quality instructional tools and professional support services that play a pivotal role in math educators reaching all students. While several of our schools have participated in Math Design Collaborative in the past, as well as a 5th grade district team just last year, this is the first opportunity for a vertical team of teachers representing math classrooms from elementary, middle school, junior high school, and high school. Our math teachers were able to have deep conversations about how math standards align through the grades while also collaborating on true formative assessment through FALS, Formative Assessment Lessons. This team will continue professional development together through this school year, including Arch Ford Educational Service Cooperative’s math specialist co-teaching and reflecting on the formative assessment lessons in our math classrooms.
