During the school board meeting on September 11th, 2018 the Greenbrier School District kicked off its series of “Whatever It Takes” awards, which will be presented monthly throughout the school year. We were proud to present the first award to Teresa Golden, an elementary special education teacher at Westside Elementary School. Mrs. Golden is always wearing an infectious smile!
She was nominated for this award specifically for some unique efforts recently made as a dedicated professional educator. Mrs. Golden registered for a class and spent summer hours learning Braille for one of her students that is sight impaired. She did not hesitate last school year to take on this challenge when parents said that the child will eventually be blind and he will need to read through Braille. There are no teachers in our area that can travel to provide this for him, and so she volunteered.
This is one of the many, many reasons Mrs. Golden is so deserving of September’s Whatever It Take Award for the Greenbrier School District. Mrs. Golden’s plaque will be displayed in the Central Office to share her great work throughout the year along with plaques of upcoming reward recipients. Thank you, Mrs. Golden, for all you do for children! #GreenbrierProud
