Each school year, our Child Nutrition Program and the staff members from each school cafeteria collaborate to make the Child Nutrition/Food Service Scholarship available for one or more GHS seniors. Over the Thanksgiving season and other holidays, Greenbrier School District staff members order and purchase homemade rolls made by our very own food service workers. With such a high interest, homemade cinnamon rolls were also added to the orders through the Christmas season.
This year alone, the school cafeterias made 9,000 total homemade rolls, allowing our Child Nutrition Department to give away three $1,000 scholarships to graduating GHS seniors! That's 750 DOZEN ROLLS made with approximately 812 pounds of flour! Our GHS Cafeteria sold and produced the majority of those rolls, with help with other cafeterias to raise the largest amount for scholarships ever.
We’re thankful for such great Greenbrier traditions that are focused on helping kids, and we’re thankful to everyone who participates, from those ordering the rolls to those making the rolls! What an excellent scholarship program!
