Students in Greenbrier High School’s Forestry class made great community and career connections this week on a field trip to Green Bay Packaging in Morrilton. They were exposed to every stage of the paper production process from site preparation, planting, thinning cuts on an active logging site, final harvest cuts, transportation, chipping, and processing the chips into raw paper material used to make cardboard containers. Our students also learned about sustainable forest management practices, streamside management zones, and water quality and diversion. Thank you to Scott Meek, Ray Craven, and Paul McDougald at Green Bay Packaging for coordinating today’s tours, as well as our to our agriculture teachers for ensuring students make these connections.
