Panther Code-Con

Posted Date: 12/15/2021

guest speaker discussing code-conAs Hour of Code wrapped up this week, the Greenbrier School District was pleased to host our first Coding Conference. GJHS girls interested in computer science had the opportunity to attend Panther Code-Con, where they were able to hear from the Arkansas Teacher of the Year Ms. Susannah Post. Ms. Post attributes much of her success to her experience working in the business and computer science field for 12 years and was able to share a message of empowerment and encouragement for girls considering entering the field. After Ms. Post spoke, students were able to participate in a series of coding experiences meant to expose them to the world of computer science. GHS students led a robot programming workshop and Mr. Hurst taught students how to recognize patterns and functions in a coding script. GHS counselors provided information to students about college programs and career opportunities in coding. GSD is proud of its computer science program, and we are looking forward to continuing to host events like this in order to prepare students for their future!
