    Mrs. Isom teaching Vocabulary

    Mrs. Isom found herself back in a Literacy classroom this morning. She modeled how to use the vocabulary wheel to Ms. Bowman's 3rd graders using a vocabulary word from their novel, The Orphan of Ellis Island. Vocabulary instruction happens daily, with the goal to expose students to the meaning of as many words as possible.     Success Criteria is an instructional strategy that gives students a clear picture of what it takes to be successful in the lesson. Mrs. Wehlage and her students worked together to determine how they would be successful with identifying place value in the 1s, 10s, and 100s place.     Math Small Groups in 5th Grade

    We share a lot about small groups happening in K-2 but did you know small groups happen in 3-5 also? Mrs. Sutterfield is working with a group to review word problems using the KWS strategy. This is a tool students can use independently to solve word problems. Our teachers use small groups to differentiate based on specific student needs. This is just one way we work hard to ensure ALL students are learning. #SESstandOUT #GreenbrierProud

    Wizard of Oz Hook

    THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!!! Our first grade teachers dressed like characters from the Wizard of Oz to hook students for their upcoming novel! Students went through rotations to learn about each of the main characters and vocabulary related to each the characters. Teachers even acted out the traits that described each character. Everyone enjoyed this little bit of excitement so very much! #SESstandOUT #GreenbrierProud
