GMS Week 21/22
Lots of amazing things happened at GMS during weeks 21 and 22 of the school year!
Our Fast Focus groups work hard every day on important standards and skills from their classes. Students are grouped based on individual needs, and we love to see their growth from this time!
We also want to congratulate Mrs. Moix for being named Arkansas Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year! We are so thankful for everything Mrs. Moix does for GMS each and every day.
7th grade science classes have been learning about geoscience and the movement of the earth's plates. Mrs. Miller's classes used their interactive journals to make claims about geoscience processes and provide evidence to support their claims and models.
6th grade social studies kicked off their Ancient Greece unit by participating in an Olympic Games simulation! Students did a variety of indoor and outdoor challenges that they competed in that made for such a fun day!
6th grade science classes are also working hard on their weather unit. Student participating in a Jigsaw activity where they became an "expert" on a specific weather cycle and then taught about that cycle to their peers.
7th grade literacy also kicked off their new unit on the novel Hatchet. Students participated in a mock survival simulation where they had to work together to complete challenges and "survive" the simulation.
We finished off the week with our January PBIS reward during Fast Focus! It was such a beautiful day where we got to celebrate our students who are following the HEART matrix.
