GMS Week 23/24

Weeks 23 and 24 at GMS were full of fun and learning!

The EAST chickens were taken care of by GMS students this week. The EAST chicken project helps students learn how to raise chickens and take care of them. They then sell the chicken eggs to raise funds for the chicken feed.

6th graders Zaylor Leidholm and Lillian Fisher competed in the Faulkner County Spelling Bee. Zaylor placed 2nd overall and Lillian placed 6th overall! We are so proud of their hard work! Our 6th grade Quiz Bowl team also competed in the Regional competition and placed 4th overall! Way to go Quiz Bowl team members!

6th grade Social Studies classes came to the library for a lesson on note-taking and using text-to-speech tools on their Chromebooks. They put this to practice by listening to articles about Alexander the Great and taking notes on if they think he was a hero or a villian.

We wrapped up the 2025 ReadBowl at GMS! Students read a total of 160,026 minutes over 4 weeks! Our overall MVPs were Fallon Fields and Nevaeh Bryant!

We finished up the short week with a pep rally to recognize our winter athletes. Our 7th grade basketball teams were introduced and celebrated, and selected students got to play some fun games against staff members!

Our teachers loved getting to meet with families at Parent-Teacher Conferences! Thank you for coming and hearing about the great things your child is doing this year!
