Students in kindergarten learn the parts of a plant and first grade builds on that by learning the function of each part. Mrs. Lane hooked her students into their plant unit with Tops and Bottoms and a celery experiment. Students are already predicting that the leaves are turning the color of the water because the water is somehow traveling up the stem!
