4th grade put our main idea and supporting details skills to the test this week while learning all about the history of gum. Students got to choose a flavor of gum to chew during the lesson. Most of them were extremely amazed to learn that the gum they love to chew today have actually been around for many years and even used to cost 0.05 cents at one point in time. Students were asked questions over main ideas of different paragraphs and key details and then had to find evidence that proved their answer in various colors!!
