Today students in Mrs Brown’s 4th grade literacy class discussed that a way to build background knowledge is through experiences. They made a connection to characters in the book by experiencing what it took to create a pouch that was used in the novel. This held horses that had a special meaning to the character and students brainstormed similar experiences that help them comprehend a variety of passages.
