Today, as an introduction to a very exciting chapter, 3rd grade students received a “pen” when entering the classroom and were greeted with the prompt.

 

“This is no longer a pen, it is a…”

In the book Frindle, the main character, Nick, decided to come up with his own word (a Frindle) for a pen and make it a thing.

 

Students came up with a new word for a pen and used it in a sentence. lots of creativity and giggles with some of the words that were used.
