4th Grade Candy Lab

In 4th grade science, students participated in a Weathering and Erosion Candy Lab. The students conducted their lab by dropping droplets of water on their candy using a pipette to observe how the candy breaks down. The students dropped water every 5 seconds for 3 minutes to observe weathering that occurs fast or quickly. Then, the students dropped water every 15 seconds for 3 minutes to observe weathering that occurs slowly. The students hypothesized and observed using this question in mind, “Does the force or frequency of the water effect the weathering and erosion that accrues on the rocky surfaces of Earth?”
