ICU at GJHS

ICU is a system we use when a student's grade needs critical care. Missing assignments are placed on the ICU list and that alerts the team of adults that the student needs assistance in getting their work turned in. Parents should receive an email notifying them that their student has been placed on the ICU list. From there, the adults, including parents, are on alert and looking for opportunities to help. We may ask if they've finished the work yet, if they need anything to finish it, or if they're able to work from home on the assignment. And we will look for more time for them to work on it such as during lunch, incentives, clubs, elective classes, athletics, assemblies, or field trips.
The goal is for every student to show mastery of grade-level standards and they can't do that if they have missing work used to assess those standards. The adults at GJHS are on call in the ICU every day!

How you can assist us in a great school year:

Please remind your student:
  • Drinks other than water must be thrown away when you enter the building.
  • ID badges must be clearly visible from lanyard or clipped to waist.
  • Any students with short shorts, visible midriffs, bare shoulders, or wearing pajamas will have to change.
  • To speed up entering the building in the mornings, try not to bring metal objects. Items such as eyeglass cases, umbrellas, binders, metal tins, insulated cups, Chromebooks, and charges must be taken out of your bag and passed around the weapons detection system.
  • Backpacks with metal frames or metal clips on them will always be sent to a secondary checkpoint for inspection.
  • All phones and smart devices must be locked in your Yondr pouch or stored in the front office during the school day. If you need to buy a replacement pouch, they cost $30.
